WASHINGTON, D.C. (Michigan News Source) – Just days before absentee ballots hit mailboxes, President Donald Trump endorsed U.S. Rep. John James for governor of Michigan.

Trump posted on Truth Social, calling James a “highly respected” congressman with the track record to deliver results for Michiganders.

James thanked President Trump on X, calling him “the greatest President of my lifetime.” He added, “Michigan families deserve better than what Jocelyn Benson and Gretchen Whitmer have delivered.”

James is part of a crowded GOP field. A recent poll from Mitchell Research and Communications, Inc. shows James, former Attorney General Mike Cox, and businessman Perry Johnson in a statistical dead heat.

On the Democratic side of the ballot, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson are running for the state’s top job. The Michigan primary election is Tuesday, Aug. 4.
