GRAND HAVEN TWP., Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that eight family members in Grand Haven Township died in a murder-suicide on Friday.

Autopsy results confirmed that 39-year-old Amanda Karolkiewicz and her six children were killed by gunshot. Forty-seven-year-old Kristopher Karolkiewicz’s death was ruled a suicide. Officials did not release the names of the children but confirmed that four were biological and two were adopted. The boys were 15, 12, 11, and 5 years old. The girls were both 11.

Investigators said a fire was intentionally set in various parts of the home after the killings. The family’s pets also died.

The incident remains under investigation. A press conference is scheduled for 2 p.m.
