WASHINGTON, D.C. (Michigan News Source) – Congresswoman Haley Stevens just picked up a significant endorsement in her race for U.S. Senate.

Current U.S. Senator Gary Peters is endorsing Stevens. He is retiring from the seat she’s running to fill in November.

Peters posted on X that he and his wife are “all in” for Stevens, citing that Michigan “cannot afford to lose this seat.”

Stevens said she’s “honored” by the endorsement. “Senator Peters knows what it takes to win in Michigan, and he knows what Michigan needs from our next U.S. Senator: grit, effectiveness, hard work, and Michigan common sense. I am honored to have his support in this campaign.”

Stevens has served in Congress since being elected in 2018. She is running against progressive Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan’s Democratic primary. State Sen. Mallory McMorrow (D-Royal Oak) dropped out last week.

The winner will face GOP Senate candidate Mike Rogers who is running unopposed in the Republican primary.
