DETROIT, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A Dearborn-based civil rights group is suing U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and three major American companies over property destroyed during Israeli military operations in Lebanon.

The Arab American Civil Rights League filed the federal class-action lawsuit Tuesday against Rubio, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Caterpillar. The proposed class could include tens of thousands of U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents who owned property in Lebanon and either lost it or were displaced.

The lawsuit argues Rubio and the State Department failed to properly enforce the Leahy Laws, which restrict U.S. security assistance to foreign military units implicated in serious human-rights violations.

Boeing and Lockheed Martin are accused of supplying aircraft and weapons to Israel despite allegedly knowing they could be used in operations affecting civilians and property. Caterpillar is named because its bulldozers have allegedly been used to demolish homes and infrastructure.
