LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Taylor Farms just moved past its cyclosporiasis lettuce recall, and now it’s facing another one.

This recall involves jalapeños and jalapeño-containing products sold at stores including Kroger and Trader Joe’s across dozens of states, including Michigan.

The recall includes some salsas, dips and prepared foods.

Taylor Fresh Foods, which does business as Taylor Farms, announced the voluntary recall and said there have been no reported illnesses linked specifically to its products containing jalapeños. The recall comes amid an ongoing multistate outbreak of Salmonella infections linked to fresh jalapeños supplied by Coast Citrus Distributors.

Federal investigators identified a grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, that supplied Coast Citrus as a potential source of the contamination. Taylor Farms said it has stopped sourcing products from the grower and will fill orders from alternative suppliers going forward.

The jalapeño recall comes within days of lawsuits being announced against Taylor Farms and Taco Bell over the recent cyclosporiasis outbreak. The lawsuits allege the companies failed to properly source, inspect, handle and monitor lettuce served at the restaurant, resulting in illnesses.

Michigan has reported two deaths in connection with the broader cyclosporiasis outbreak. State health officials announced last week the recommendation to avoid bagged lettuce is not longer in effect.

Other states included in the jalapeño-product recall include Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Wisconsin and West Virginia.
