BERKLEY, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Police in Berkley and Southfield are investigating after antisemitic flyers containing swastikas and other hateful imagery were found scattered throughout neighborhoods last weekend. Authorities believe the flyers were thrown from a vehicle, and both departments are asking residents with security camera footage to come forward.
A familiar pattern.
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) said the flyers contained a variety of antisemitic images and messages. ADL Michigan Director Elyssa Schmier noted that Berkley alone has been targeted multiple times in recent months.

In a statement, Schmier said, “This kind of hateful propaganda is designed to intimidate and spread fear among our Jewish neighbors, and we take it extremely seriously. We are in close contact with local police departments as they investigate, and appreciate their assistance. If you have any information about this incident, please contact your local law enforcement agency directly.”
Antisemitic incidents keep raising alarm.
The Southfield Police Department also made a statement saying, “While this investigation remains active, we want our community to know that acts intended to intimidate or spread hatred are taken very seriously and have no place in Southfield. We are a community built on diversity, inclusion, and mutual respect.”
The latest incident also comes just months after the Hezbollah-inspired terrorist attack on Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, also in Oakland county, heightened concerns about antisemitism and security within Michigan’s Jewish community.
