ST. IGNACE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A 28-year-old seasonal worker has been arraigned following a two-vehicle crash that injured four people and closed the Mackinac Bridge for several hours Wednesday.

Redane Smith was arraigned Thursday in 92nd District Court on one count of reckless driving causing serious impairment of a body function. His bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 5.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police St. Ignace Post responded just before 3 a.m. Wednesday. Police say several vehicles accelerated and were driven recklessly after passing through the southbound toll booths. One vehicle rear-ended another near a construction zone where traffic was reduced to one lane.

Investigators believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
