PORTAGE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Pfizer is cutting 150 jobs at its Portage manufacturing facility.

Company officials confirmed the layoffs Tuesday, citing lower production volumes resulting from lower projected demand for some products manufactured there.

“Pfizer does not take these changes lightly,” Pfizer Media Relations Director Steven Danehy said in a statement. “Our colleagues are our top priority, and we are committed to keeping them informed throughout the process and providing them with support services.”

The announcement comes nearly three years after Pfizer announced roughly 200 layoffs at the facility in November 2023, citing declining demand for its COVID-19 products.

Pfizer officials said the company regularly evaluates its manufacturing network to align capacity with patient needs, projected product demand and long-term business goals. The company said the layoffs do not reflect employee performance.
