Michigan awarded its 15 electoral votes to President Donald Trump in 2024. This year, control of the U.S. House and Senate is at stake, and Michigan voters will help determine the outcome.
Democrat Abdul El-Sayed and Republican Mike Rogers are competing for Michigan’s open U.S. Senate seat. Other key contests, including Michigan’s 7th Congressional District race between Republican U.S. Rep. Tom Barrett and Democrat William Lawrence, are drawing national attention.
Michigan Democrats are also bringing in big names to boost their campaigns. U.S. Sen. Mark Kelly and former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords, both Arizona Democrats, campaigned with Democratic gubernatorial nominee Jocelyn Benson in Detroit on Sunday, Oct. 11.
They appeared at a get-out-the-vote rally hosted by the Michigan Democratic Women’s Caucus at the Considine Little Rock Family Life Center. The pair also appeared with El-Sayed during their Michigan visit.
Former President Barack Obama is scheduled to campaign with Benson and El-Sayed in Detroit on Saturday, Oct. 24.
