LANSING, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – A second Michigan legislator has been arrested for drunk driving in the last month.

State Rep. Bryan Posthumus (R – Cannon Township) allegedly hit a mailbox and rolled his car on Friday, April 30th. His office said he had a blood-alcohol level of .13, nearly twice the legal limit.

Posthumus apologized to his constituents and said he would seek treatment for what he called a “drinking problem.”

Meanwhile, Posthumus’ colleague State Rep. Jewell Jones (D – Inkster) faces charges as well after his arrest along I-96 in early April.

Michigan State Police troopers had to restrain Jones after he refused to cooperate. A female passenger, who’s name has been redacted from the police report, was found unresponsive with her pants down. Jones’ pants were also down.

He told the Michigan State Police that he wanted to call Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and that both he and his passenger were important people.

Jones will be in court in June.

Gov. Whitmer’s office did not immediately respond to our questions regarding Jones’ demands for police to call her.
