FLINT, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – Federal courthouses throughout much of Michigan will be closed on Monday.

The District Court for Eastern Michigan closed its doors on Monday to remember late Judge Marianne O. Battani.

The district includes federal courthouses in Detroit, Ann Arbor, Bay City, Flint and Port Huron.

The Detroit News reports the 77-year-old died Thursday at her home in Oakland county after a long illness.

The court’s public information officer says the court is closed especially for someone like Judge Battani, who had a long and distinguished career.

Any cases originally planned for today will be rescheduled.
