LANSING, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – Michigan’s top lawmakers and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s administration have announced a deal to finalize the next state budget.

Lawmakers are expected to vote next week, well in advance of the September 30 deadline.

According to our media partners at MIRS, pushing the budget through prior to the October 1 start of the new fiscal year marks a third straight year in which a negotiated final budget isn’t moving through conference committee department by department.

That means public view of the final document is limited.
