GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – Officials are warning it’s best to stay out of Lake Michigan on Tuesday as red flag conditions stretch along much of the state’s west side.

The National Weather Service reports there are red flag conditions from St. Joseph to Manistee.

That means conditions are extremely dangerous with five to eight-foot-high waves in some areas.

The National Weather Service says the north sides of piers will be the most dangerous.

Dangerous swimming conditions are expected to continue through the rest of the week.
