LANSING – Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced on Friday that Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, who currently serves as chief medical executive and chief deputy for health, has accepted a new position outside of state government.

Her last day is September 30.

Details about Dr. Khaldun’s new job were not immediately available.

Dr. Natasha Bagdasarian will serve as Michigan’s chief medical executive starting Friday, October 1.

The State of Michigan will conduct a nationwide search to select a permanent chief medical executive.
