LANSING, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is expected to sign the state’s $72.5 billion budget on Wednesday, and she’s expected to line-item veto some measures she calls “unconstitutional.”

She’s expected to ax the section which bans local mask mandates.

Gov. Whitmer is will also declare attempts to require certain exemptions for students at universities with coronavirus vaccine mandates as unconstitutional as well.

The fiscal year starts Friday.

The state still has an additional $7.5 billion worth of COVID-19 relief funds to spend.
