DETROIT (Great Lakes News) – Michigan Medicine is halting its COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
The University of Michigan says the pause is due to a federal court in Louisiana issuing a nationwide injunction banning enforcement of the regulations for healthcare workers.
The pause is for all union employees.
In related news, the Michigan Senate has voted on a bill to temporarily allow healthcare workers with out-of-state licenses to work in the state.
The Michigan Health and Hospital Association, which supports the bill, said there are more than 20,600 open health care positions in the state.
The bill now heads to the Michigan House for consideration.
