BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – Striking workers at the Battle Creek Kellogg’s plant are being paid a visit from a United States senator.
Self-described Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders (D- Vermont) will join striking Kellogg’s workers in Battle Creek on Friday.
Sanders says on Twitter the company made billions of dollars during the COVID-19 pandemic with employees working 12-hour shifts for more than 100 days in a row.
The strike at four plants in Michigan, Nebraska, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania began October 5, and Kellogg’s says it will start hiring replacements.
The union turned down Kellogg’s latest offer which would have paid new hires more than $42,000 a year.
