LANSING, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer has signed an executive order to permanently establish Michigan’s Unemployment Insurance (UIA) Fraud Response Team.
The team will coordinate between state departments and police to identify, investigate, and prosecute people who steal jobless benefits.

In addition, Gov. Whitmer signed an executive order to direct the UIA to keep using new technologies, prioritize fraud enforcement, and partner with community organizations to educate people about the benefits.
