LANSING, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer issued a press release on Thursday, demanding that Canadian authorities quickly resolve the ongoing Ambassador Bridge closure.
Whitmer said the closure is impacting Michigan industries including automotive, agriculture, and manufacturing.
“It is imperative that Canadian local, provincial, and national governments de-escalate this economic blockade,” Whitmer stated in the press release.
Canadian truckers have been protesting the country’s strict COVID-19 measures for two weeks, including mandatory vaccines.
A handful of Canadian provinces have already dropped their mandates.
