IRON RIVER, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – Olympian and Michigan native Nick Baumgartner of Iron River will be bringing home a gold medal from China.

Baumgartner, alongside his 36-year-old partner Lindsey Jacobellis, won gold in the new event of mixed snowboard cross. They beat out the Italians who took second and Canadians who took third.

The 40-year-old Baumgartner is the oldest in the snowboarding field.
