LANSING, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – Captain Michael Brown has taken himself out of the race for Michigan governor.

In a statement, the GOP candidate said he believes independent contractors brought onto his campaign to gather signatures “jumped onto other campaigns and went on a money grab.”
On Monday, the Michigan Bureau of Elections said former Detroit police Chief James Craig and businessman Perry Johnson didn’t submit enough valid petition signatures to make the ballot.
Those two GOP candidates could be out along with Michael Markey and Donna Brandenburg.
Although Tudor Dixon’s term of office end date on her petitions has been questions, Great Lakes News has learned this is not a “fatal flaw.”
Dixon received the endorsement of the DeVos family on Monday.
The Michigan Board of Canvassers will meet on Thursday.
