LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The recently approved state budget for the upcoming fiscal year gives a boost to Michigan fisheries.
According to the newly passed state budget, $34 million will be given to Michigan fisheries for much needed upgrades. The money will be used for aging infrastructure across the state’s six main fish hatcheries. In addition, a portion has been earmarked for the purchase of a new Great Lakes survey vessel.

The current survey vessel known as Steelhead, has been in operation for 54 years, and much more sophisticated technology will be available with the new ship.
