LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – GOP gubernatorial frontrunner Tudor Dixon continues to head into Michigan’s primary election with a slim lead over the four other candidates on the ballot.
The poll commissioned by The Detroit News and WDIV-TV shows Dixon, businessman Kevin Rinke, real estate broker Ryan Kelley, and chiropractor Garrett Soldano in a close race to run against Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in November.
Of the 500 likely GOP primary voters surveyed July 13-15, 19 percent said they would vote for Dixon. Fifteen percent favored Rinke, 13 percent backed Kelley, and 12 percent threw their support behind Soldano.
Two percent backed Pastor Ralph Rebandt. Thirty eight-percent are undecided.
Richard Czuba, founder of the Lansing-based Glengariff Group which conducted the poll, told the Detroit News the “primary race is a complete toss up.”

Dixon has been gaining traction during the last month with major endorsements from the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, Michigan Right to Life PAC, and the DeVos Family. Former President Donald Trump has remained silent on who he might endorse in the GOP governor’s bid, but Trump did give a shout-out to Dixon at an April rally near Detroit.
