PONTIAC, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan’s five GOP gubernatorial candidates will take the debate stage again with only days to go before the state’s Republican primary election.

The debate, hosted by the Oakland County Republican Party and WJR, will be held at 7 p.m. at the UMW Sports Complex Auditorium in Pontiac. Tudor Dixon, Ryan Kelley, Ralph Rebandt, Kevin Rinke, and Garrett Soldano will participate.

Wednesday’s matchup comes exactly one week since the candidates traded barbs at a debate at Oakland University. Polling after that debate showed Tudor Dixon in the lead with Kevin Rinke gaining traction.

Dixon is the frontrunner. She’s racked up endorsements from the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, Michigan Right to Life PAC, the DeVos family, and a host of other lawmakers and congressional leaders.

Rinke’s background in business has allowed him to bankroll his campaign with $10 million of his own money.

Ryan Kelley has picked up in the polls as well. His arrest by the F.B.I. at his home last month does not seem to have slowed down support. He pleaded not guilty to his alleged involvement in the events at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Ralph Rebandt, a pastor from Farmington Hills, is polling at one percent.

Garrett Soldano is in the middle of the pack, with his campaign being fueled by smaller donations from grassroots supporters and his name recognition from “Stand Up Michigan” which he formed at the beginning of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s COVID-19 lockdowns.
