LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – According to the state health department, Lyme disease is on the rise in Michigan.

A report showed there were two times as many confirmed or probable cases in 2021 compared to 2020.

Transmission of Lyme disease comes from the blacklegged tick. Lyme disease can cause fever, headache, fatigue, and a bulls-eye like rash.

Lyme disease from a tick can be prevented by wearing light colored clothing, using bug spray that contains 20 to 30% Deet, clearing high grass around your home, and checking your skin after going outside.
