LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Democratic incumbent Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is leading over GOP challenger Tudor Dixon in an EPIC-MRA and Detroit Free Press poll.
The poll shows Gov. Whitmer with 50% while Dixon holds 39%, which gives the governor an 11 point lead.

In addition, the poll shows Dixon leading with older men and those living in Northern Michigan. Poll numbers indicate the race is tight in West Michigan, where Dixon lives, as well as Macomb County and Mid-Michigan.
The Aug. 18-23 survey for 600 likely voters show Dixon’s favorability took a hit when the campaign and its supporters stayed dark with paid media 21 days after the primary while the Democratic Governors Association spent $4 million on an anti-Dixon message.
However, the race between the two is expected to take shape this weekend. The GOP convention in Lansing will solidify the ticket along with Dixon’s running mate. She’s selected former Michigan House representative Shane Hernandez as her running mate. The Democratic party held its convention last week.
The general election is November 8.
