GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Earlier this month, two firefighters made their mark at the Grand Haven Township Fire/Rescue’s department by becoming the first all-female crew to work a full shift.

Angela Headley and Sloan McLean became the first all-female crew to work a full shift since the department formed 76-years ago. Neither Headley nor McLean planned their pairing, but as part-timers, they were able to sign up to cover shifts for their full-time colleagues.

During a shift, firefighters handle all calls and ensure the equipment is in working order.

During their noteworthy 12-hour shift on August 2, Headley and McLean remarked things were fairly routine. In addition to completing routine truck checks, they also completed station chores and ran several medical calls.
