KALAMAZOO, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Western Michigan University (WMU) plans to launch a cannabis marketing class next spring.

The joint effort between the school and cannabis industry insiders is a chance for potential future dispensary owners to learn the industry.

As the marijuana industry grows in Michigan after voters legalized it in 2018, WMU decided to roll up its sleeves and get in on the trend.

Dr. Russell Zwanka is set to head up the program. He says they have partnerships in place where students will get real world experience marketing cannabis from local businesses, like Lume. It is the largest cannabis retailer in the state.

The class is not open for enrollment yet, but WMU officials say they expect it to fill up fast.
