WASHINGTON (Michigan News Source) – A CBS News Battleground Tracker Poll conducted October 3-6 shows GOP gubernatorial challenger Tudor Dixon ten points ahead of Democratic incumbent Gov. Gretchen Whitmer when it comes to issues surrounding the economy.
The poll shows Dixon with 55% while Whitmer earned 45%. The margin of error is plus/minus 4.2 points.

There are a number of issues voters could pick from to determine who they want to lead the state. From coronavirus policies, to small business micromanagement, to K-12 education scores, crime, and abortion, the economy appears to be the opening Dixon has been waiting for.
Whitmer, who repeatedly referred to President Joe Biden as her “good friend” leading up to his 2020 election, has remained mum about whether she would support his reelection bid. Her reluctance appears to be tracking with what people are seeing nationally – Biden’s economic policies have hurt Americans, so those within his own party are distancing themselves from him.
This week will likely prove to be a turning point in Michigan’s gubernatorial race. Whitmer and Dixon will battle it out on the debate stage on Thursday night. Early voting started on September 29 in Michigan, and Whitmer did not agree to any debates prior to that date. It’s a move for which Dixon has repeatedly slammed Whitmer, and accused her of hiding out in Biden’s basement.
The general election is November 8.
