EAST LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – After weeks of speculation, Michigan State University President Samuel L. Stanley put the rumors to rest on Thursday and announced in a video that he has submitted his letter of resignation.
This comes about a month after reports that the Board of Trustees were in discussions over Stanley’s contract and that the president was potentially heading out the door.

After that, there reports surfaced of a wide variety of parties backing the president, including the chairperson of the Michigan State University Board of Trustees Dianne Byrum.
Michigan State University’s Faculty Senate overwhelmingly cast ballots in a vote of no confidence on Tuesday regarding the university’s Board of Trustees over its handling of sexual misconduct allegations and efforts to oust Stanley. That vote followed a similar no-confidence vote in the board last week by Michigan State’s University’s student government.
