FLINT, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – “Trick or treat!” is taking on new meaning this Halloween as inflation hits a 40-year high.

That means the price of everything is up, including the price of candy, and that could have Michigan kids getting fewer treats as they go door-to-door this Halloween.

According to data between Halloween 2021 and 2022, the prices of the most popular candies went on a sugar-high when it came to spiking prices. Skittles are up 42% in price, with Starburst following at a 35 % increase.

Butterfinger and Nestle Crunch saw the lowest increases, with seven and six percent increases, respectively.

Despite these increases, most people said their Halloween celebrations and trick-or-treat purchases will be the same as usual.
