DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – More lead water service lines are being replaced in Michigan, and Detroit has received a boost to complete that project in its city.

Detroit has $100 million to work on replacing 80,000 lead water service lines.
Detroit Water and Sewerage Department director Gary Brown says more money is coming.
Michigan’s  Lead and Copper Rules require all lead service lines to be replaced in the next 20 years, and Detroit homes built before 1945 likely have those.
Brown says testing shows the city’s water is within the state and federal guidelines, but says the lead pipes still pose a risk.
