LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Officials with the Michigan Army National Guard said they are worried about hitting future recruiting goals.

Maj. Jason Corner, who works as the Michigan Army National Guard commander of recruiting, said the COVID-19 pandemic has increased those concerns. He said that could potentially lead to fewer soldiers to help during missions.

The Michigan Army National Guard said it is fully staffed, but they only hit 60% of their recruiting goals for last year.

Corner called it “unprecedented” and “the lowest recruiting mission since 1973.”
