DETROIT (Michigan News Source) –  The Ford F-150 Lightning pickup is the Motor Trend magazine 2023 Truck of the Year.

The company made the announcement on Tuesday and Ford became the first all-electric truck to win the honor.

The judges found the Lightning appealing to consumers in the market for a pickup truck and to those looking for a bigger vehicle with more capabilities than their current vehicle.

Critics also praised Ford’s approach in design by keeping styling cues consistent with the company’s gasoline powered F-150 pickup.

Ford says the popularity of the truck also resulted in the company being named the No. 2 EV brand in the United States. The company says it is expecting to deliver 150,000 EV trucks a year.
