The organization set a goal of $8.2 million for the year and are currently down 17% compared to last year.

Through December 31st, all donations made to the Salvation Army up to $500,000 will be doubled and matched by the Consortium of Hope. Officials say they are still seeking bell ringer volunteers for various locations throughout the state through Christmas Eve.

A mystery donor in November dropped a rare 1980 South African gold Krugerrand worth about $1,765 into a red kettle at a Kroger in Macomb County. It was the 10th consecutive year someone had done so at a site in the county.
