EAST LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The East Lansing City Council approved a partial deer cull on Tuesday night, leaving the softball complex and aquatic center off the list.

Councilwoman Dana Watson made the motion to exclude those two locations, although the rest of the city parks are still on the cull list.

Cheryl Marsh, who runs Nottingham Nature Nook, has spent 15 years caring for injured animals and releasing them into the wild once they are healed. She called Tuesday night’s actions “great news” in a Facebook post.

“For now we celebrate the lives that have been saved. Tomorrow we work to save the rest,” Marsh wrote.
