LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Eighteen Republican lawmakers in Michigan have written and sent a letter to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to encourage him to run for president in 2024.

Rep. Bryan Posthumus (R-Rockford) personally delivered the message to DeSantis last month when he flew to Florida.

Politico first reported the letter. The move appears to be an attempt to throw support behind a candidate other than former President Donald Trump, who announced his bid for the White House in November.

Rep. Phil Green (R-Millington) is also one of the signers of the letter.

A request for the letter and list of signatures has been sent by Michigan News Source to Rep. Posthumus.
