LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Foreclosures across the U.S. are up dramatically from a year ago and Michigan is third in the nation.

Figures released Friday show U.S. foreclosure filings are up 3% over this time last year. Michigan trails only Delaware and Illinois in state foreclosure rates.

By the numbers, one in every 2,617 Michigan housing units had a foreclosure filing in January.

Both the state and city of Detroit are within the top five in their categories for the most foreclosure filings in the country.
