Senate Bill 90 would extend Michigan law to protect residents from hair-based discrimination by adding language into the state’s Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act to prohibit discrimination based on hair texture and race-based hairstyles. Such hairstyles include braids, dreadlocks, twists and afros.
“How you choose to wear your hair shouldn’t hinder your success in school or the workplace,” Sen. Anthony said at a press conference this week.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer offered her support of Sen. Anthony’s bill on Twitter.
No one should fear workplace retaliation or face discrimination for wearing their natural hair. Passing the CROWN Act would make Michigan the 21st state to ban hair discrimination. Thank You Senator @SarahAnthony517 for championing this important issue. https://t.co/f3QE4ITBrG

Interesting, but can you provide data regrading the frequency of this particular occurrence?
Why not eliminate occupational licensing which creates a significant barrier to entry for those working with braiding/styling/barbering of hair?

Power is still out for half a million residents if not more. No one cares about hair.
