LANSING, Mich. (Michigan New Source) – Crews are still working to restore power to the 136,000 customers still in the dark as of Monday morning.
According to PowerOutage.US, Michigan saw more power outages than any other state after an icy winter storm passed through on Wednesday and Thursday.

The storm hit Hillsdale County the hardest, where much of the county’s energy customers lost power. The city of Kalamazoo declared a state of emergency saying they’d run out of resources.
Michigan lawmakers are calling for answers from Consumers Energy and DTE about why the outages have lasted so long.
State Senator Mallory McMorrow (D-Royal Oak) said on Twitter she “will do the work to hold DTE accountable and demand improvements” and says the length of the outages in freezing temperatures “is completely unacceptable.”
Meanwhile, Michigan State Rep. Abraham Aiyash (D-Hamtramck) told WXYZ, “Consumers Energy, DTE energy have the most amount of outages for longer periods of time than anywhere in the Midwest. We pay some of the highest rates in the country, and it’s just unacceptable.”
