LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The House Energy, Communications and Technology Committee is scheduled to hold a hearing on March 15 in response to the recent power outages statewide.

Testimony will be heard from Dan Scripps, who heads the Michigan Public Service Commission, and utility company leaders. DTE Energy and Consumers Energy have been receiving harsh criticism over their response to the outages that affected nearly one-million residents and businesses.
Officials with both energy companies have described the storms as significant and noted they had thousands of workers laboring around the clock for days to restore power. DTE president and CEO Trevor Lauer has said such strong weather events appear to be the “new normal.”
