LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the National Weather Service (NWS) are warning Michigan residents about an elevated risk for fires this week.

With warm temperatures and high winds moving into the area, residents are being urged not to burn yard waste which could cause wildfires.

The NWS says specifically that winds will increase today and Wednesday this week, which will be the time of the highest risk for fires to spread.
