KALAMAZOO, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A Kalamazoo Central High School senior has a federal complaint under investigation by the U.S. Department of Education against her school district.

Alyssa Douglas was diagnosed in the fall of 2021 with dyslexia, high anxiety and depression and has her service dog, Moxi, with her all the time. She says both were overwhelmed last October by a group of boys that were harassing them, with one jumping on Moxi’s tail. S
School officials did not discipline the boys but instead had Alyssa and Moxi eat lunch in the office with no visitors.
Douglas has a Section 504 Plan but her family says it is not being accepted by school staff. A spokesman for the district said the district cannot comment on pending litigation.
