LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is ditching three of its COVID-19 testing sites and replacing them with a pilot program to tackle “community health needs.”

According to a press release, the pilot sites will be located in Detroit, Flint, and Muskegon. Community Health Workers (CHW) will offer on-demand referral services including behavioral health and social services. Patients can meet with an on-site CHW to connect with community resources that include food access, housing supports, utilities assistance and health care enrollment.
