Starting during the Fall 2023 semester, in-district students will see a $4 per credit increase. That brings the total cost for a 15-credit hour semester to $1,485.

In addition, the Board approved increases for out-of-district students. This is the first tuition increase for WCC in five years.

WCC is not alone. Last week, the Grand Valley State University Board of Trustees voted to raise tuition prices by 4.7% ahead of the 2023-24 school year.

Students will pay an average of $676 in additional tuition fees per year under the new tuition rates, while room and board rates will rise 5.8%.

In mid-April, the Michigan State University Board of Trustees voted for a nearly 7% increase in room and board rates for incoming freshman. MSU cited inflation of food costs as one of the reasons for the increase

The vote for the 6.95% increase means MSU students who select the silver unlimited meal plan would be set at $11,754, according to documents prepared for the board. That rate is up from $10,990.
