SANDUSKY, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The National Weather Service office in Detroit confirmed a tornado caused damage in southeastern Sanilac County on Friday afternoon around 3:20 p.m.

The official weather service survey concludes that a single tornado touched down around a few miles south and east of Applegate near the intersection of South Ridge Road and Townsend Road. The tornado gradually increased in size as moved further southeast, eventually crossing Wixom Road. It damaged crops and trees. Tornadic winds pelted numerous cornfields. Winds of around 70mph blew through the area.

Along its path, the tornado reached up to one-quarter-of-a-mile while winds increased to 85 mph. The tornado caused the most damage in this area, downing several electric wires and uprooting tree. The tornado damaged one home.
