LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan voters passed Proposal 2 in November which, among other things, approved nine days of early voting. Now Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is sounding the alarm for more poll workers so each precinct is in compliance with the law.

“Poll workers are our most valuable asset in conducting Michigan’s safe, secure, and accurate elections,” said Benson. “I’m thankful for the service of Michigan’s thousands of election workers and I encourage everyone to sign up to be a poll worker in their community.”
Michigan’s Legislature turned the passed proposal into a group of new laws. The new laws include measures to extend early in-person voting to a nine-day period before Election Day, expansions to absentee voting and community ballot drop boxes and the creation of a web-based tracking system for absentee ballots.
Local clerks are already prepping for the 2024 primary and general elections.
“With the recent changes to election laws in our state, poll workers will be essential,” said Saginaw County Clerk Vanessa Guerra. “It is more than just a job; it is a commitment to one’s community.”
