DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – In a Facebook Live announcement on Friday afternoon, United Autoworkers Union (UAW) President Shawn Fain told members “we are winning” and “we are making progress” as the Stand Up Strike continues.
The main highlight from Fain’s announcement included GM agreeing in writing to place its electric battery manufacturing under the UAW’s national agreement.

Fain emphasized the UAW was prepared to shut down GM’s biggest money-making factory in Texas with a walk out before this agreement materialized.
In addition, Fain emphasized that GM is moving in the right direction, and Ford and Stellantis are not far behind.
“We are ready when they are,” Fain said, referring to contract agreements with the Big 3.
The Stand Up Strike that has idled a handful of facilities across the country is entering its fourth week.
