ISLE ROYALE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Snow has fallen on Isle Royale in Lake Superior for the first time of the season.

The National Park Service’s webcam showed the snow falling Monday morning at 10:53 a.m. on the island, which is nearly two weeks earlier than average. The National Weather Service says the first snowfall at its weather station in Hancock in Houghton County is October 21 on average, with the earliest being September 19, 1991.

Temperatures have moderated slightly on Tuesday with highs expected to be in the upper 40s and lows dropping into the mid 30s tonight.
