WEST BRANCH, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – As firearm deer hunting season gets underway on Wednesday, the Ogemaw County Sheriff’s Office wants hunters to keep their eyes open for a missing Genesee County woman.

Law enforcement is looking for 60-year-old Kelly McWhirter. They believe McWhirter was murdered by her estranged husband, Steven Higgins, last month and that he disposed of her body during that time. Officials are asking hunters to look for anything suspicious in the fields and forests, including disturbed dirt and unexplained ruts in and around trails.
